Test Results
Patients can access their test results using Online services where they can print off anything in their medical records. Reception staff are happy to help with any queries regarding test results but please be aware they are not clinically trained to offer advice.
When you attend for a test of any kind you will be told how long you should expect to wait for the results. Please bear this in mind and call the surgery after 10:00 once sufficient time has elapsed.
Tests done at the Hospital take longer for the result. We ask that patients wait at least 10 days after having a procedure at the hospital to get the results. Time needs to be taken for the hospital to look at the results and forward them to the Practice, this can take a number of days.
Please note tests and bloods done at other locations such as Hospital and Outpatient settings will not show on the patient online medical record. Bloods taken at Enhanced access appointments do not show on the medical records
We ask that any bloods requested by the Hospital or outpatient clinics are done at the hospital to avoid delays and reporting problems. The Practices uses a different lab to process bloods so we can not use the forms from the hospital, these forms have a bar code on for the results to go back to the relevant clinic. If bloods are taken at the practice they will be sent off on the practice forms this means the results will not go directly back to the relevant clinic and will only show on the practice medical record. To avoid delays and problems please use the blood service at the hospital if bloods are requested.
Our reception staff are not qualified to comment on results therefore it is your responsibility to check them and make any necessary follow-up appointment with the doctor.
Please note that we do have a strict policy regarding confidentiality and data protection. In this respect we will only give out results to the person they relate to unless that person has given prior permission for their release or if they are not capable of understanding them.
